After coming back from Sydney we got so busy with organising for people to come and quote for painting and getting our house ready for being put on sale, that I haven’t really had much of a chance to post photos.
So I’m making this a catchup post so I can get all this out of the way and start again tomorrow!
One of the days we went to Cape Town Fish Market for sushi. This is the prawn, red pepper and cheese roll.

We went to one of our favourite eating places, Günther’s, but they were closed. Fortunately we had some of Günther’s sausages in the freezer so we had those for dinner. These were the shubling served with mash, onions and German mustard.

That is the first time I have never seen capsicum in sushi.
I do like the look of the sushi sandwhich!

Yeah I guess different countries have different standard items. I’d never seen cooked chicken or tuna in sushi before coming to Aus! (I’m sold on chicken teriyaki rolls!)
I do like the sushi with capsicum (which we call (in this case) red pepper), especially when the pepper is fresh and crunchy!

If it’s a generally crappy photo then it was taken with my iPhone. If it’s a decent photo then it was most likely taken with my Canon PowerShot A480. It’s a cheapie camera but pretty good. I have semi-pro level Canon cameras too although I don’t use those in restaurants, but I do recommend Canon.
The iPhone takes decent photos in good light, but it’s less than average in poor light, which is what most restaurants have at night.
Where do I start!
There is never enough decent sushi in the UK and its so expensive, yours is all so photogenic.
The seared tuna looks lovely; did it have some sort of chilies or peppercorn on it?
As always the breakfasts look lovely. That’s one thing we are good at here, a good fry/grill up. Bacon,eggs,every way possible (!), sausages, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and black pudding, all washed down with freshly squeezed juice…….. Boy am I hungry now!
Pizza looks great,sadly my other half doesn’t eat cheese or tomatoes so that rules out pizza in our house
He also doesn’t eat pasta, so I am now drooling over some homecooked spaghetti and meatballs!
Thai food, oh how I miss it! Luckily did a Thai cookery course whilst over there so hope to recreate authentic food back home.

Yes I think we are blessed a bit with good sushi, but it’s a bit of a hit and miss affair. Some places have great sushi, and some not. We’ve pretty much figured out which are good in our area and stick to them (just in time for us to move!)
Yes the seared tuna is coated in Shichimi Togarashi (Japanese 7 spice – http://www.japanesefoodshop.co.uk/sb–shichimi-togarashi-seven-spice—assorted-chili-pepper—15g-37-p.asp) – It’s lovely, and very spicy!
Pity about the pizza & pasta – that’s something I’d certainly miss!
A Thai cookery course would be a nice thing to do.
